Membrane separation is one of the very important separation methods in this year. The membrane separation performance of BPPO is a key factor in the success of the method. BPPO is a thermoplastic polymer with stability in physical and chemical .It has very excellent film-forming performance. In the gas separation, it has displayed the good application prospect, but in the actually application, sometimes it isn’t ideal .As the weak polarity of BPPO membrane, the pentane separation efficiency of alcohol/n-pentane is not ideal, by using the strong polarity of PVP into BPPO, it could improve the polarity of the membrane material. By adjusting the ratio of PVP/BPPO, the film has the appropriate flux and selectivity. Research shows that, the property of crosslinking membrane in 10% PVP is very obvious. For the 6.4% methanol solution, at 30℃, the flux is 1.775g /m2 .h, and the selectivity is increased by 88%.
As an excellent bonding agent, PVP be used for cement adhesive in the construction materials, it can greatly improve the performance of cement, especially can increase its compressive and seismic. For example, a kind of Portland cement adhesive which contains about 3% PVP (molecular weight 40000), more than 90% of the naphthalene sulfonate and a small amount of formaldehyde, obviously improve the cement concrete strength.
PVP has good bonding strength for glass, plastic and metal, it is the main component of the hot melt adhesive for special purpose. We could use it as the binder for glasses and plastics, it has the advantages of strong viscosity and high adhesion strength. In the composite which glass fiber reinforced, the hot melt adhesive containing PVP can make the glass fiber and other plastic better adhesive.
In addition, PVP has important use in the conductive material and many kinds of membrane materials. It also apply for drag reduction material, optical fiber, laser discs, light solid resin, photosensitive materials and the other new materials field.
